						Eskdale is a beautiful, unspoilt valley. The 'real' Lake District. With Wasdale over the hill and Scafell Pike between us, it may be further to get here but it's well worth the trip. Below is a view down the Eskdale side of the notorious Hardknott pass many follow their satnav over this route only to wish they had taken the costal route into the valley. With the addition of new duel caridgeway at the High Newton bypass, the longer way round takes less time.
		The pass is not the only challange around. There is plenty of high fell walks including our own 18 3/4 mile "Woolpack Walk" For those who are not into walking the high fells there are low level wood and moorland walks where you don't have to stray too far from the road. Hardknott fort is at the top of the valley and the "Laal Ratty" miniature steam railway just 1 mile away.
